Paul Giles - Artist, Illustrator, Designer.

Mister Giles
I started art at school, but I wasn’t particularly devoted to it I enjoyed it but then I started to get taught about graffiti and couldn’t stop doodling…this helped me develop a passion for creating, constantly writing your name and re-inventing yourself with an individual style learning different techniques and approaches from different artists. After school I went to Leeds Met to study contemporary art and design where I mostly created abstract video art and studied bizarre contemporary and modern styles of creating artworks but  I  carried on working in design for friends drawing constantly in my spare time and learning a digital craft to produce flyers and promotional items for club nights etc.
After this I moved back to London and went to Camberwell to study Illustration, this really help me nail down exactly what it was I enjoyed creating.
I love graffiti, street art, abstract art, music these things constantly inspire me to create and continue to challenge myself to be individual…..
I use writing to investigate the abstract properties of graffiti and use this as a basis for individuality, no one can ever make the same marks and mess you can they are forever yours, unique individual and yours. Crossing these abstract questions and investigations with more common concepts of illustration I try to create pieces to inspire, involve and interest. This spliced with the intricate babblings and feelings of a mad man spew out my creations.
Don’t be like them!

Maura has had a captivating presence on the London music circuit for years. Now with an imminent release on Leftroom Records, she is cementing a name for herself in London and abroad. She is in this for the long-haul, standing out for spinning vinyl and always playing from the heart regardless of musical trends.

Starting as co-promoter and resident of !KNUF together with Jordi Mas, their regular soiree in East London hosted many a respected headliner. Maura’s dynamic sets and signature deep sound have gained her spots in London’s hottest parties, including Phonica at T-Bar, M+H at The CAMP, Excuse the Mess, Kitchen Party, Bread & Butter at The Light Bar and Clandestino at The End & AKA, playing alongside industry heavyweights such as Christian Burkhardt, Argy, DJ W!ld, Ekkohaus and Noze to name a few. Highlights for 2010 include playing in Cologne as well as in Miami at the Winter Music Conference, sharing the decks with Nick Curly and Ray Okpara.

Maura has stepped up her game by entering the world of production with Mark Chambers. Delving into influences of deep house and dubby tech sounds, Mark and Maura deliver warm and rich beats with a permanent nod to the old-school and a forward thinking perspective to the future.

"arT is arT, if you think, (it) is arT".........ArTno

Arnaud Chanat

BIO
Born in France-1972. I had my first camera and my only SLR camera since, a Pentax p30, at 19. I’ve never stopped taking pictures from this time. A travel lover; I hold a Masters degree in history, trying to expose the history of mentalities in France throughout the last century between Paris and the country side. I completed a year in a Fine Art School “Beaux Art” in France where I studied sculpture and cubism.

Further to this, I studied photography for 2 years at the “centre d’initiative artistique du Mirail” at the University of Human Sciences in Toulouse, France.
Linked to Art, I started up the new Biennale of Paris with Alexandre Gurita for 2 years as advisor  with the concept of immaterial art .
Regarding pictures, I spent a lot of time at the beginning to understand the light and the reaction camera/film and aperture/speed. Then I moved quickly to architecture for the lines and the perspectives, when slowly I used to get some money from architects to pay my studies all this time. I did few small exhibits in Toulouse, mid 90’s.
For some reasons, I decided after this period to stop to show my work and to have any relation with money for something witch is my only freedom. I take pictures because I don’t have any choice.

I moved out from Paris to London in 2002 to get what we missed in France: Energies, emulsion, movement for every aspects of what we call creation.
From now on, I’m compiling pictures of  what I see and what I live day by day about situations and locations;

I’m offering my skills and my work for few  projects around, but most of them always for free. I turned up, and end up now with the social and political photo-report which is, in my point of view, the essence of the invention of the camera. I'm painting from time to time as well to complete my researches.

Few self-edited artist books completed. The last one “from 2007 in motion with me, or I’ watching you
(text and pictures) .
